Eyelash Curlers 101
Eyelash curlers really help open the eyes and are essential for stick-straight lashes. Read more for essential tips on how to make the most of your eyelash curler.
The Basics
Use them on clean lashes – if you have any leftover mascara, remove them with an eye makeup remover first. Do not use eyelash curlers after applying mascara, you might pull out your eyelashes!
Use them on dry lashes – don’t curl your eyelashes in a steamy bathroom, you will see no effect!
Clamp your eyelash curlers to the base of your lashes and hold for 20 to 30 seconds. ‘Walk’ them up your lashes so that you get a nice curl, instead of a 90-degree crimp.
Next, apply mascara. Waterproof mascaras are the best as they hold the curl longer. Try a curling formula as they will enhance the curl provided by your eyelash curler.
Heated Lash Curlers
With the new generation of heated eyelash curlers, you no longer need to clamp your eyelashes (and risk pinching!). You can even use them after you’ve applied mascara. Curls produced by heated curlers last longer too. These heated curles use AAA batteries and it usually takes under 30 seconds for them to heat up fully. To use, push the wand against your mascara'd lashes and hold for a few seconds.
If you’re not ready to fork out for a heated eyelash curler, you can use your blowdryer on your traditional lash curlers for a few seconds. Make sure its cooled down enough so that you don’t burn your lids.
